Ready-made list
Assign workshop breakout topics
Facilitators lose minutes arguing over who sits where and which table gets which brief. Random groups plus a clear topic list keeps the room moving.
Paste participant names to seat tables, or keep these topics and pick one prompt per breakout group.

Breakout topics (or replace with names)
Strategy-flavored topics for product and ops workshops. Replace with participant names when you only need seating groups.
- 1. Define success metrics for the next quarter
- 2. Map risks and early warning signals
- 3. List quick wins we can ship in two weeks
- 4. Improve onboarding for new teammates
- 5. Reduce meeting load without losing alignment
- 6. Design a clearer feedback loop with customers
- 7. Prioritize tech debt vs new features
- 8. Draft a communication plan for a change
- 9. Identify skills we should hire or train for
- 10. Propose an experiment we can run this month
- 11. Clarify ownership for a fuzzy process
- 12. Capture lessons from the last launch
Two valid workflows
Workflow A: paste attendee names, Groups = number of tables, then assign topics manually from this list. Workflow B: keep topics here, Pick one topic per table after people self-seat.
Do not mix names and topics in one draw—you will not know whether Group 2 is people or a brief.
Timing the reveal
Reveal groups before topics so people settle physically first. Then pick or announce topics so energy goes into the brief, not into finding chairs.
How to use this list
- 1
Decide what you are randomizing
People seating vs topic assignment—pick one per run.
- 2
Set group count
Match the number of breakout tables or Zoom rooms.
- 3
Brief and time-box
Give each group the topic plus a 15–20 minute timer.
Tips for this scenario
- Uneven expertise? After the fair draw, allow one expert swap per table.
- Virtual workshops: paste Zoom display names carefully—duplicates break clarity.
- Seed the draw if you must document how groups were formed for compliance training.
Frequently asked questions
Should the list be people or topics?
Either, but not both at once. Paste names to seat tables, or paste topics to assign briefs.
How many people per group?
Switch Groups mode to “People per group” if you care about size more than table count.
Can I pair facilitators afterward?
Yes—run Pairs on facilitator names in a second pass.
