Ready-made list

Randomize team building questions

Remote and hybrid teams burn out on the same check-in. A shuffled question bank keeps retros and offsites from sounding scripted while staying work-appropriate.

Shuffle for a full opener round, or pick two or three prompts when the workshop only has five minutes.

Standups vs offsites: different random modes

Daily standups usually need one short prompt—use Pick with count 1 or 2. Offsites benefit from Shuffle so facilitators walk the room through a fresh sequence without debating the agenda order.

If people join late, re-run Shuffle rather than starting mid-list so late arrivals are not stuck with the leftover “hard” questions.

Keeping psychological safety

Prefer questions about work systems and learning over personal disclosures unless your team already has that norm. This pack leans practical so managers can use it without a trust-fall vibe.

Allow pass rights: random order should never force someone to answer a prompt they are uncomfortable with.

How to use this list

  1. 1

    Trim for your culture

Remove hobby prompts if you want a purely delivery-focused session.

  2. 2

    Shuffle the opener

Run Shuffle and screenshot or copy the order into your meeting notes.

  3. 3

    Time-box answers

Announce 45–60 seconds per person so the random round stays energizing.

Tips for this scenario

  • Rotate facilitators; the tool stays the same, the voice changes.
  • Pair with Groups mode if you break into table discussions afterward.
  • Use a seed if you need to reproduce the same opener for two cohorts.

Frequently asked questions

Should I shuffle or pick for standups?

Pick one or two prompts for short standups. Shuffle when everyone will speak to a sequence of questions.

Can I mix names and questions?

Keep them separate. Randomize names for speaking order on one run, then pick a question from this list on another.

How do I avoid repeating last week’s opener?

Enable the session pool in Pick mode, or delete prompts you already used before shuffling.
